A guitar is one of the most stylish and romantic music instruments in the world. In addition to this, a person who knows how to play guitar also gets the comfort of being able to take it wherever he wants. Furthermore, there are very few musical instruments that can match the guitar when it comes to creating a fun filled environment. This is why almost every music fan has a dream to learn how to play guitar.

Most people who want to learn how to play guitar know that it is possible to do so without any external help. However, despite this knowledge, most people who start out on their quest to learn to play guitar end up failing because they do not know how to go about it. If you are facing difficulty learning guitar then, perhaps, the following guide would be of help to you.

The first step to learning how to play a guitar is to understand the significance and intricacies of the chromatic musical scale on the fretboard. The reason why this is important is that a person cannot play either notes or chords without knowing the chromatic musical scale properly. You should try to learn how to locate every note between A to G.

Once you have figured out the complete chromatic musical scale on the fretboard, you can focus on the chords. If you want to learn how to play guitar but want to start playing as soon as possible then you should learn the chords immediately. Learning how to play guitar in terms of the basic A to G chords would allow you to strum rhythms to some lyrics.

There are two versions of chords that guitar players need to know and these are major and minor. Every chord that you learn will have a major and minor version and it is important that you learn both of them.

Moreover, there are different types of fingering techniques that a person learning how to play guitar has to choose from. The choice primarily depends upon what you are comfortable with and in order to find this out you will have to experiment with different fingering techniques. Even so, you should keep the experimentation for later stages and focus on book techniques in the initial phases.

Just like there is a wide variety of fingering techniques that a person learning how to play guitar is supposed to experiment with, there are also varying strumming and picking techniques that such a person should know of.

It is worth mentioning, however, that playing around with varying strumming and picking techniques is a certain sign of the advancing skills of the person. Therefore, after you have figured out all the basics, you can try this as well.

There is certainly so much competition about with regards to cocktail bars and nightclubs. They come in all styles delivering what they consider to be the most perfect place for music, drinks and champagne.

What is considered to be the ideal cocktail bar or nightclub by one individual might not be the same for someone else, but listed here are five factors that I think go a long way to making an ideal one for everybody:

1. Location is high on my checklist as no one seriously likes spending a social evening in a bad part of town, regardless of how fantastic the nightclub venue is. It does not always need to be in an absolutely perfect area but a terrible location can frequently encourage a bad crowd which can make a less pleasant vibe.

2. The venue itself will obviously play an enormous part in whether or not it’s actually a good place to socialise. Several clubs and bars these days utilise a theme to the decor and this can be particularly welcoming. The lighting, the quality of furnishings, the colour scheme, the bar area and even the toilet facilities play an important part in forming a good environment.

3. Another extremely important aspect is that there is a diverse drink menu on offer. Reasonably priced cocktails, spirits and bubbly really should be available, though of course there’s nothing wrong with prime-quality vintage champagne being on offer to the people that can afford it. In fact for the affluent customer, a VIP style menu is an absolute must have feature as the club’s guests might be entertaining important clients.

4. The type of music being played in the facility is of course an extremely important aspect. Many venues may have guest appearances from primary DJs and that is invariably an attractive feature. This can frequently make one venue be noticed amongst others as being the place to go.

5. My fifth issue on the checklist is security. Nightclub security is one thing we have all become used to, though how effectively this is run may have a massive impact on the popularity of the venue. In an ideal world security ought to be understated but still very efficient. It is crucial that any location is safe and comfortable for both men and women to enjoy themselves. Poorly run security can result in the venue feeling intimidating and unwelcoming for everybody.

So there it is. Five basic elements which i believe are useful and essential to all cocktail bars and nightclubs. Whether you are conducting business or socialising with friends, a well run, reliable and attractive looking venue is the perfect place to visit.

Pop music usually isn’t known for its depth and substance, but as a child I remember the powerful voices and personalities of women in the music industry. Women like Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey actually had something positive to say for a few years, until they fell into a life of drugs and sex, respectively. And as I became a teenager there was Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera -I think we all know how those two ended up. Positive role models were far and few in between.

Young girls, if they so choose, can at least find some decency if they listen to the Disney Channel. But eventually they’re going to figure out there are other radio stations out there and will start listening to mainstream pop music. And no doubt many of their friends have been listening for years thanks to their oblivious parents. It’s one thing if a twenty-something-year-old chooses to find some sort of strength in Rihanna, but I wouldn’t call her a great role model for a ten-year-old.

Kids are going to be exposed to mainstream music eventually and there isn’t much parents can do about it. Artists like Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez, and Nicki Minaj aren’t aimed at young children. These are mature women singing about sex and partying and whatever else is on their vapid minds. And it’s fine if I decide to listen, but it’s scary to know that young children are too. I went to a Katy Perry concert and it was shocking how many young children were there and singing along to “Peacock,” a song not about the majestic animal in any way, shape, or form.

Now on the one hand it can be argued these women should be better role models because younger girls, and boys, are listening to them. But on the other hand, why should these women have to completely censor themselves for a demographic that shouldn’t be listening to them in the first place. Lady Gaga has been trying to straddle both lines and I can’t say she’s been flawless about it. Her musical content is mature. She talks about sex and relationships quite often but then she puts out a song like “Born This Way” which is encouraging and inspirational to everyone. When she speaks she does so with the intention that literally the entire world is listening. She’s a very positive role model overall, but that doesn’t mean her music is the best for a five-year-old to hear.

I guess you could attempt to hide your children from the music world, but I listened to songs I shouldn’t have when I was little. I turned out okay, but I can’t speak for everyone. It’s an interesting paradox; one in which I have no viable solution except maybe singers should talk less about S&M and more about cultural and societal issues.

Art is one of the widest subjects known to man. Although many have reduced it to mean the paintings and prints that artists draw, it happens to be wider and more complex than that. It encompasses a lot of disciplines making it an important part in the human life. The following is a look at the various facets of this discipline and how it is intertwined in our daily lives.

The first look is at the painting, sketching and drawing field. What the professionals do is regarded as such. Although this skill can be taught in schools, it is mostly an inborn one and it works well when the person only goes to a school to polish it. It is a big business in some parts of the world where it is regarded as an investment. Limited editions, fully signed pieces are sold at high prices.

The teaching field is another area whose proficiency is regarded as an art. In the highly talented teacher this is something that seems to flow naturally or without too much effort. The ability to impart knowledge to pupils or students is not an easy thing and not everybody can do it. It is therefore a skill that only the best have mastered.

Another area where this subject is prevalent is sculpting. That not anybody can shape a log into a giraffe or a warrior is itself testament that this is indeed a real skill. The sculptors are able to look at a piece of rock or wood and see a beautiful creation whereas an ordinary person sees the two for what they are: a rock and a piece of wood.

The other group whose work should be regarded as real skill are farmers. Being able to till a very sloping piece of land and grow plants there is itself amazing. Not everybody would be able to do the same with that proficiency. A teacher would be hard-pressed to tell the best methods to use to till a particular piece of land.

Cookery is the other major field whose proficiency is itself a skill. Being able to come up with recipes that are mouth-watering is not simple. Knowing the right ingredients and amounts to use for a particular meal to be delicious is not for the faint-hearted. It requires that the person dedicates time daily to expanding his knowledge on the same. In addition, he must be passionate about it.

Everybody loves to listen to some kind of music or to watch films. It takes skill and passion for a musician to write a piece of music or for a film scriptwriter to pen that award-winning movie. While they can be learned, these skills come out better if the person is born with them.

The writer who pens that series of award winning novels has the skill to do it. It is an art that only the best novelists have perfected. One may not recognize it but a lot of creativity goes into writing a novel even if it is inspired by real events. Things are now apparent that this subject is all around us.

David Tatham has been working in the world of fine arts for over twenty five years and . His website http://www.davidshepherd.com/davidshepherd-worldwildlife.html contains a wealth of information, also many signed, limited edition prints and works of art by renowned wildlife artist, David Shepherd .

By Christian Walker

So everyone thought your love of making beats was a waste of time and money, well as it turns out as you make beats you make brains.

When you make beats you are also stimulating your brains to grow. As Microbiologist Norma Weinberg said, “Music provides us with a natural and rhythmic way to learn.” She goes on to list several things music does for our brains. Here are the ways that, when you make beats, you make brains.

1)Understand language. Not just hear the words but understand what they are communicating.
2) Think creatively and holistically
3) Connect words to what is written on a page
4) It can train our brains to control our body’s muscles better
5) It helps us to learn to listen
6) It develops our sense of math

It Takes Math To Make Beats

It is also interesting that making beats develops our sense of math. That is right, beats are based on math or maybe we could say to make beats you must make math.

Modern beats are usually divided–notice the math–into measures of 4 beats each and then these measures are grouped–again, another math term–into groups of 8. The beat usually has a break in it every 8 measures.
When you make beats you also must consider the number of beats per minute and then there are the many divisions you must make to each beat to create variations.

Look, even though you may not be taking out your calculator and punching the keys, you are doing math. Your brain his making the calculations subconsciously and you are hearing the results in the beat.

It is pretty wild to think that you sick urban beats are really the result to math functions and that instead of writing the answers down on a piece of paper, we are hearing them pulsing through the stereo speakers. Cool!

So make some beats today and you will be making math in your brain. Sure, you may never become a math professor, but who is to say that cool and creative beats aren’t just as amazing works of math as an elegant bridge design.

Grab Your Beat Maker And Get To Calculating

The cool thing is that you can do all of this on your PC without the expense of musicians, sound engineers, and producers. All you have to do is download an excellent beat maker and get started.

So, loving beats is actually loving math. True, you may be making math when you make beats, but how does that math sound? Sorry or sick and wild? To make your beats sound awesome visit Dubturbo Free.

The other day I stood in line at a drug store and noticed a magazine. It was a new issue but it appeared to be one that I’d seen seemingly a thousand times before. Rolling Stone, the stalwart but mostly rather stale rock magazine for people who know nothing about rock music had once again compiled a list of the 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time. A very brief flip through as I waited to purchase deodorant and batteries revealed pretty much exactly what I expected. The newest album on the list was the Clash’s London Calling released in 1979. Besides that the Beatles and Bob Dylan took up more than half of the top ten. Overall the choices were uninspired and rather troublesome. A kid growing up today will read this magazine, buy all of the same records kids have for the past three decades while music and musical taste as a whole will never move forward.

I for one could not help but feel they had missed the point. In this day of bite-sized attention spans and music being available to everyone all the time on the web, the very nature of an “objective” best albums list seemed pretty much useless to me. Instead I think the song, as in singular songs, album tracks or cuts is what should be focused on, and the pool from which we pull should probably be a little more mercurial.

The whole point of building these sorts of lists is to canonize things and preserve work. This is a great things to do in theory, but just because you listen to the greatest song of all time does not mean you will write the best song ever. In fact, to push the collective musical conversation forward, chances are you have to find songs that have not been sapped of all of their relevant influence. Luckily with the way music is consumed on the internet these days we can listen to songs with a wildly varying collection of styles and sounds. We can hear things that people before us might have never bothered with given that they might have to drop actual cash to hear the record. These days even if something is not one of the best songs ever you can find something worth pulling from it and leave what you didn’t like in the dust.

So ignore Rolling Stone lists. In fact, avoid lists all together. Build your own canon and get some inspiration for what could actually be some of the greatest songs of all time.

You’re ready to get out there and knock your audience’s socks off with your voice now that you’ve taken a course of singing lessons and are about to give your first public performance. But are you ready? It’s not just a case of getting up on stage. Before you get up on stage, what sort of last-minute preparation should you do?

If you’re like many singers, you probably feel a bit nervous. This is more common than you think and even experienced singers get a bit agitated and excited before they go onstage. So if it’s your first time singing in front of an audience, it’s only natural that you’ll feel a bit on edge. The big thing here is to make sure that you get on top of the nerves and don’t let them beat you. It’s only too easy to get into a vicious cycle where you are worried that the nerves are going to make you shaky or look silly, so you worry about worrying, which only makes you more nervous and agitated about singing in public and so on. To quote an old cliché, you need to feel the fear and do it anyway. Rename the feelings of shakiness and nerves as “energy” rather than “anxiety” and you’ll start seeing these feelings in a positive light.

There are a few things that you can do to make sure that these pre-performance jitters are kept to a minimum. You won’t be able to make them go away altogether but you can keep them in check. Caffeine is notorious for making people feel edgier and for stimulating the nerves, so watch your caffeine intake before your performance. While you shouldn’t knock off caffeine altogether before your performance, you should probably avoid knocking back vast amounts of cola-flavoured fizzy drinks (you know the ones I mean!), strong coffees and energy drinks. This applies even if your first public singing performance is at night and you’re worried that you’ll be too tired to perform. The natural levels of adrenaline coursing around yours system will take care of the tiredness, while a touch of makeup under the eyes will make you look fresh and bright-eyed.

Drinks with caffeine create another big problem for singers. Caffeine stimulates the bladder, and it’s hard to give your best performance if you’re busting to pee. You probably need to watch your fluid intake before hitting the stage to avoid this problem, especially if you expect to be singing a set of numbers, but caffeine will only make this problem worse. While on the topic, make sure that you do get to the small room before you go onstage to take care of the risk of trying to sing with a full bladder.

On the topic of drinking, what about alcohol? Some people won’t sing karaoke, no matter how many singing lessons they’ve taken to improve their technique and boost their confidence, unless they’ve had a bit of “Dutch courage” first. While a single glass of wine or one can of beer will help you take the edge off those nerves so you can approach your performance without your hands shaking, it’s probably not a good idea to get shickered before going onstage. When you’re drunk or even just a bit tipsy, you are more likely to forget the words, get the words wrong, mess up your timing and generally make a first-class fool of yourself. You will give a performance that others will remember for the wrong reasons and that you will wish you could forget. If you get wasted, you’ll waste all the time you put into learning to sing!

It can be a good idea to take a small bottle of water onstage with you so you can take small sips in between songs. This overcomes the common problem of getting a dry mouth. Your mouth and throat need to be nicely moist so you can sing properly. Don’t drink too much if you’re singing for a long time, or you will get the bladder problem again.

If your singing performance is scheduled for after dinner entertainment, be careful with what you eat. A full stomach can cramp your diaphragm – command central for breath control and providing volume – so don’t eat too much. Also be careful to avoid anything that will make you gassy – you don’t really want to burp or hiccup while in full song. Eat by all means, but stop well before you feel full.

Regardless of when you are singing relative to dinner, you should eat a strong peppermint or one of those oral-care mentholated strips before you performance (but don’t try chewing gum – you can’t chew and sing at the same time). These get any last-minute bits of phlegm out of your vocal tract. These minty things keep (or make) your breath fresh, which is a must if you plan on singing a duet. Your duet partner won’t be able to smile happily or put on a nice lovey-dovey expression if they’re getting the full force of your garlic breath!

One way of settling nerves that can also help clear the vocal tract is to use aromatherapy. Lavender oil is the best oil to choose here, as it calms nerves and clears the throat – try it in a vaporiser/burner or pop a drop or two on a tissue so you can inhale it. Rose oil and neroli oil are also good at soothing the nerves, and eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil clear the vocal tract – try combining these to create a pre-performance blend.

You should always warm up before you take the stage. This is an absolute must if your performance is going to be physically demanding (e.g. high notes or long notes). Not only will this quick rehearsal ensure that you can actually do it; it will also warm your muscles up. You wouldn’t think of giving an athletic performance without warming up first and you shouldn’t sing without warming up, either. Even if you’re completely familiar with what you’re singing and you’ve sung it a hundred times before, you should still warm up somehow. Every professional singer does. Go through a few scales and arpeggios, at the very least. If you’re taking part in a big performance, the warming up usually is done during the rehearsal time when the sound people fiddle with microphones and foldback, and the backing band (or the rest of the choir) makes sure that everybody’s got it all together.

Once you’re all ready, it’s time to get out there and wow your audience!

Getting the Sound You Want In Your Beat

There are things that really bug me in a beat and one of them is a machine gun fire closed hi hat. Especially when it is a sampled hi hat. It makes it sound artificial, mechanical and just downright fake.

Instead I like the slight variations of a human hitting a hi hat. There is only one exception to this and that is if you are producing a techno tune since an impersonal automated sound is what you are trying for, but aside from that the human touch says it best.

Many Ways to Hit a Drum

Just adjusting the volume level on a drum sample will not convince the human ear that a drummer is striking the drum harder and that is because there are more changes in the sound of the drum beat struck harder than just volume. The tones of the drum, along with its overtones also change.

If you barely tapped a snare drum and recorded the sound; then gave it a good whack and recorded that sound, you would now have two sound samples. If you took these two sound samples and played them at the exact same volume level you would still hear a remarkable difference in the sound.

So if your beats are coming out somewhat mechanical you may need to vary the sound samples you are using even for the same drum strike.

Midi Can Easily Produce This

If you have a keyboard that is touch sensitive and it has a midi in and out on the back, then you can use it to strike your drum samples harder or softer. Of course this won’t work with Dub Turbo since it doesn’t have midi capabilities, but if you are using BTV SOLO then you can.

Of course the samples that you use must be layered samples. In the midi world, for example, a snare drum sample may be recorded several times at several different velocities and then layered together. Then when you strike a touch sensitive midi controller such as a keyboard the software will select the appropriate layer of the sample to play. This makes a huge difference in the sound of your beat.

The trick, if you are after this kind of control over your beat, is to select software like BTV SOLO that has the capabilities or if you have software like Dub Turbo you can use your drum pads and assign different sound samples with different velocities to each pad. In Dub Turbo you have 9 pads per track with 16 tracks over all, so you have room to do this.

In the end, humanizing your beat track can really bring it to life and put new juice into your grove.

Are you frustrated with the sound of your beats. Does it seam that no matter how hard you try, you just can’t get that sound you want. Don’t give up. There is software and techniques that give your beat a pro-sound in less than an hour.

Auditioning is scary enough without having to worry about having all the right materials with you. Before you step foot into that chorus call, equity principal audition, or any other type of audition, you need to have the right tools for the job. The following is a guide of audition tips for actors and singers regarding what you should have with you when you are called on to show your stuff.

Actors who do not sing need to have a plethora of monologues. It can be very difficult to find original material but everything around you can be inspiration. The movie you saw last night about the lawyer might have a great dramatic monologue while the off-Broadway show you’ve been hearing so much about might be perfect for the comedic speech you’ve been searching for. Just keep reading, keep searching, and keep memorizing. You should have at least two dramatic, two comedic, and two Shakespearian monologues under your belt at any given time. You should also work on character voices for when you are asked to read different parts in an audition.

For singers, you must have a little more than those aforementioned monologues. You never know what you will be asked to sing. Even if you are auditioning for a specific show they might ask to hear something else from “your book.” This is why you need to keep your binder filled with songs that are clearly marked for the accompanist and that you have rehearsed. Never bring unprepared or underprepared materials to an audition!

Again, you should have a wide range of songs and styles that you can use to show off your voice. Have songs that show your low register, your high register, songs that you can belt, ballads, legitimate theatre pieces, pop styles, and up tempo anthems. It is always a good idea to have a few key pieces you can pull out on a moment’s notice. These are your “go to” numbers. Ideally, you know what your “type” is. You should know if you’re a leading man or a character actor. Find pieces that showcase your talents as well as present the type of role you would like to play. When auditioning for a specific show, it is always good to have one prepared piece from that show.

Additional materials for your book include headshots of different styles (if you have more than one), resumes, business cards, and a pen. With these tools in your arsenal you can focus on showing off your talents and not scrambling to borrow someone else’s sheet music!

Mesoamerican pyramids, Montezuma, and chocolate/chili combinations are things that easily come to mind for most people when they think about Mexico before the Spanish arrived, and these things still influence the present day. Among the many developments that occurred in Mexican history written language systems are but one of them. Poets and writers like Nezahualcoyotl contributed greatly amongst the diverse and unique writing systems that early Mexican culture developed, and their works are still studied today.

Nezahualcoyotl was the ruler of Texcoco, a city-state in the plateau region of Mexico. Now a legend, he is considered a major figure in Mexican history as a poet, a philosopher, and a warrior.. Born in 1402, he was the son of the then-ruler of the city, Ixtilxochitl I; though he was the heir to the throne, the city was conquered by the invading Tepanec tribe, forcing the royal family to flee into exile.

The adjacent city of Azapotzalco was the birthplace of the Tepanec people.; after several years in hiding, Nezahualcoyotl joined an allies’ military and led a siege against Texcoco’s new rulers. A coalition was formed, with the help of information gained through implanted spies, and Pre-Hispanic armies endeavored and succeeded in reconquering the region.. He regained power lost when his father was usurped as ruler, and was handed the crown in 1431.

The army did not only re-take Texcoco, but also wiped out Azapotzalco, eliminating the Tepanec as a significant power. The Aztec Triple Alliance came together under Nezahualcoyotl’s smart coalition plan to consolidate the power of three city-states.. He was highly respected due to his interest in listening to opposing views, and also because he encouraged art, philosophy and music to flourish..

The era of Nezahualcoyotl’s rule came to be known as the Golden age of Texcoco. It was a place where artistry, law, and scholarly pursuits were celebrated, and the city became known as the intellectual center of the Triple Alliance. It had a massive library that was renowned throughout the area, but was unfortunately destroyed during the Spanish conquest. Athens of the Western World was how the kingdom came to be known..

The tradition of passing down stories and other writings has made Nezahualcoyotl famous, as his poetry has been preserved in the Classical Nahuatl language over the decades.. Texcoco’s building and engineering projects were influenced by him and his clever design ability.. Fortuitously, the poor quality brackish liquid was kept separate from the clean water of the local water supply, by a dike system that he is credited with building.; the system remained in use for over one hundred years following his death.

When Nezahualcoyotl died in 1472, he was survived by 110 children; one of them, his son Nezahuapilli, took the throne and continue to rule. His descendants have collected his poetry for public consumption. A statue of the king stands in the city which bears his name, near the capital of Mexico.
